Types of mouthguards include pre-made, boil-and-bite, and custom-made. Pre-made and boil-and-bite guards can be purchased at sporting goods stores. However, a custom-made guard is highly recommended, and is by far the better option for both comfort and protection, especially if your child is wearing braces.
Whatever type is used, a mouthguard should be tear-resistant, comfortable, and easy to clean.
